So I have a 1975 El Camino... and last month I jammed a 12 valve in it. (a '94 auto to be exact, with 160k miles)

2 days ago the turbo locked up on the highway. Did not seem to snap the shaft... I was passing, but not kicking the motors ***. The compressor wheel spun the nut off the front..

Standard stuff.


So that being said... Now that my turbo is done... What should I be looking for in a new turbo? I have limited funds as of right now. I've been considering one of the China Ebay turbos, though dont know what model I would get....

Otherwise I guess sticking with a hx35? Staying with the wH1C? (edit)

I'm not so much looking for massive amounts of power, but quick spool. Idealy I'll only be running the 215 injectors.

Or just anyone have one laying around they could throw off, so I can get my car running again in the meantime?

Sorry... I just looked it up... I guess i have the wH1C that came on a 94. Somebody surely should know what kind of turbo would be a good upgrade? Or should I just try and get this one rebuilt?
