i just got my head level after my head gasket blew it had been replaced before and head level but idk how much and they had to take 0.012 to 0.013 off of it can i use a stock head gasket or do i need a 0.010 or 0.020 over head gasket

 

if someone previously machined the head the amount they took off should be stamped in the rear corner, theres a machined place in the rear of the head for this, if they didnt just measure valve protrusion and your piston protrusion subtract them from forty thousandths and that will be your clearance. *forty thousandths is average compressed thickness of stock head gasket. you could always use a marine headgasket, they are thicker but idk how much thicker

 

im goin to go with a 0.010 marine head gasket amd head studs

 

go with a .020 to be safe im running a .020 on my truck

 

Wouldn't a 0.0020 lower my compression to much
