Default swapping cabs

im looking into putting a new cab on my truck. my truck is a 95 extcab auto. but what i want to do is put a 98 or newer cab so its 4 door. but my question is will it matter what it comes off of. whether it be gas diesel 1500 2500? and also will my dash and wiring harness fit in a newer cab and everything be the same? the trucks look so alike and not much changed and i think they would but i dont want to pull the trigger till i get more info

You'll need to make sure you have the diesel instrument cluster for the new interior. That's of course, if your interior doesn't fit.

Just did this swap... its a lot of work. And no the wiring in both cabs are different. If you want to use the newer 98+ dash you need a 98 12 valve wiring harness and pcm. But your old dash and cluster will bolt into the newer cab if you want to go that route.

He said you'd need the pcm/harness if you were going to be using the new interior. You'll be good if you reuse your old stuff.
