Default tranny acting funny (slipping?)

im new to this site and have a question. the tranny in my truck is starting to act up. ill be taking off and right around 40 mph when it shifts into 4th gear the RPMs will shoot almost up to 3k and it feels like the torque converter slips then it will feel like it locks back in. any suggestions?
Thanks!

when my automatic transmission went it would just slip like you were pushing in a clutch when you went up a steep hill. then the RPMs would drop back down and reengage then it would slip again.

thats the torque converter slipping.... it does it around 40mph because that is when it locks up... time for a new converter..

Id say it sounds more like a converter problem as well instead of a transmission problem. If you just got the part a little while ago Id call em back and see what they have to say about a warranty!

is the VB stock?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

a triple disk alone isnt much without a aftermarket VB to raise pressure

yea the vb is stock. i guess this is why when one part goes just rebuild everything not just replace one part. ive heard about a manuel vb..what exactly does one do?
