alright dumb question here but i got to ask it, yes i searched first, i just got a project truck thats a 95 with no tailgate so i got a gate from a junkyard off a 96 (which just happened to be the same color ) and i go to put it on and the damn thing dont fit, its almost like it is to wide, did they change the mounting brackets somewhere between 95 and 96 i feel like a boob but i cant seem to think why they would change them?

 

It should fit , I dont remember why but When I changed mine I switched the mounting brackets from my old one to my new one. the only thing that was different were the nylon bushings but it works.

 

i believe between 95 and 96 they either widened or narrowed the bad at the back.

 

Nope 94- 01 tailgate is the same

 

So the tailgate is the same but the brackets are different
