Default EGR intake removal

Does any one off hand know what kind of reduced EGTs can be expected by removing the stock CA, intake and exhaust on a 97 with a non EGR intake and a new 3 piece exh. man.
thanks
R.

I just did a 4" turbo back and it didn't seem to change much. I have not pulled anything to test and my truck is still stock.

I did the EGR delete but left the EGR style intake and exhaust with blank plates over the ports. That took off 50*-100* off EGT for normal highway unloaded. I don't think I will see the full benifit of the mods until I turn up the pump.

I was hoping for someone who did the intake horn ,as the EGR one is reduced down to 1" in side the horn and the non CA, intake horn is wide open

A "non-CA" intake horn is on the list!

I left the EGR intake on the truck with the EGR tube and valve removed and plates over the port in the intake and the same with the exhaust manifold.

Also, on my '97 you have to "fool" the computer with a resistor and a relay to keep from getting a check engine light and an EGR flow trouble code. I don't know how to "fool" the computer on a 2001 truck.

I have a '98 12v non-CA intake sitting in my garage if someone wants it.

That still leaves a 1" opening down the middle of the intake ... If you still have it on you need to take the intake horn off and look way back inside it and see how restrictive it is
its hard to see down it . just putting a block off plate on the egr mount only closes the hole
the restriction is cast in the horn. btw 2001 have no egr or cat. fwiw.

Default Follow up to EGR Delete

I pulled my California EGR intake tube off and replaced it with the standard unit. Wanted to post a couple of pics to show how bad the "smog" tube is. Now the truck can get the boost it builds and let the other mods work! I did this mod along with the 3k GSK but it's like I have a new truck. Can't tell if it runs cooler because I am too busy watching my boost hit 30psi and having fun.

Can't understand how a 359in turbo diesel could breath through that little hole! Thanks member daveO!
