New to Diesels & I have questions.
Well tap the pin yes. And I would listen to 94 12valve, dont plug the wastegate. Like he said 20 bucks is cheaper than a broken charger and then possible motor issues depending on how the charger like to disasemble itself.
I agree a boost elbow is cheap insurance, however on a stock turbo I just plug it off. Never had a problem with overboosting on a stock turbo. Also you can slide fuel plate full forward which will help quite a bit until you decide to grind or replace it. You can play around with the star wheel to control pre-boost fueling, but I wouldn't mess with the smoke screw unless you really know what your doing. You can put the fire out if you back it out to far and it takes very little to do it. The more you turn it in the more its gonna load up (smoke). which is just a waste of fuel and money.

1. You obviously havent had very much fuel to a stocker.
2. Starwheel is not pre-boost adjustment
3. The "smoke" screw is actually the pre-boost adjustment and in is more fuel before boost and is what puts the fire out "if" you have the fuel to do so.
