Default 1996 cummins swap into a 1992 dodge gasser

hi i have a 1996 cummins with 192 thousand on it. and my frame is rotted.. but i was thinkg about takeing my engine and tranny and putting it into an older dodge with the C channle frame it looks stronger and should last longer. is it worj doing tht? or should i just get another frome for this truck? or is it even possible to put a 1996 cummins 12 valve with the p7100 pump in the old 1992 dodge gasser? and thought or ideas let me know. thaks

I can't see why not to do the swap if you already have the truck and the engine to do it. If you want to do it I say go for it.

whoa whoa whoa be more specific. first problem i can see is the cummins is much heavier than a gas engine so you'd need your springs. then you got a power thing so you need trans and transfercase if applicable and maybe even driveshafts

ok. the truck has leaf springs on it. and i would have to get different wiering harness right and transfercase?

Is the gas truck a 1/2 ton? If I were you I'd do the swap and swap the axels, the 92 is a passenger side drop front end and the 96 is a driver side. If the 92 is a half ton then the axels won't hold up anyway, and you could reuse the 96 t-case. Switching from coils to leafs is easy you just need to weld spring pads on and make sure you get the caster angle correct. The wiring would be fairly easy to adapt. The cummins dosent take much to make it run. Hope this helps. Keep us posted if you do the swap
