well if you tow a lot and have a 6 speed... 4.10's are really nice... not to say 3.73 wont work it just means sometimes your going faster than u prob should be...

Well it depends on what engine and tranny you have. With a 12v defueling completely at like 2800rpm, and the .75 OD ratio on the NV4500, you top out at just a little over 80. You're basically running really close to redline just at 65mph.

I agree if you had a VP44 or commonrail Cummins, especially with an NV5600 or G56, it would be a lot less inconvenient.

i have 4:10's right now and a dana 80 and they are great for racing and towing but the mpg's suck, I want to do 3:55's or 3:73's but I dont want to knock my trucks bottom end out, my brother has 3:55's in his 01 but he has nothing done to it performance wise so I cant really use his truck as a refference

MINE SUCKED performance wise when i got it.... 3.55 with STOCK power is not really ideal...

BUT... mods in my sig changed that... and my EGTs are cool as sh*t and no problem towing heavy !!!

Shifting from 3rd to 4th will always cause the turbo to slack off, but i think i need better AFC tuning, guess it's too clean hehehe

I have 4.10's. My mileage sucks, but I can pull a train up a grade. LOL

I'm thinking 3.54's and an underdrive/auxiliary transmission of some sort.

Well even with 3.55's 1st gear is worthless performance wise, so I would think it would get even worse with 4.10's. That and topping out at 83

OD for a nv5600 is .73
OD for a G56 is .79

so really a 6 spd will not help ya with 4.10's

My bad I was thinkin the G56 has something along the lines of a .71

I went and looked it up, and the early G56's behind the 5.9 had .79, but when they switched to the 6.7, it changed to .74, still about the same as the NV4500. I dont know why on earth they would put a .79 OD behind a diesel, I think it would really benefit from another gear after that.

I would like to sell or trade my 4:10 for 3:55 out of my 99 Dodge 1 ton.
