how come my truck sputters?

Mine does the same thing when it is cold out and i start it first thing in the morning,does it up over 2000 rpm with a little white smoke. clears up about third gear, any help

im still not back in the states yet, it was doing it befor i left. truck gets used like once a week so i know its not the fuel. thanks for the info everybody
