Went to go start my truck today and nothing. Got two new batterys because mine were old. dropped them and same thing happend. I can hear my start bang when i turn the key and thats it. Thinking its worn contacts? in the starter. Batteries are pulling the right voltage. I checked every ground and I have new connectors on all my cables. The only thing im getting is a bang from the starter.

If I read this correctly, you can hear a clunk/bang coming from the starter area, but nothing else? It that is the situation you may be on the right track questioning the solenoid contacts. The clunk/bang would be the starter solenoid throwing he gear out, but no power is getting to the starter motor.

the other day I forgot to plug the truck in and it gave the starter a work out getting her fired up. I think thats what did in those contacts. they are old.

Might be best to replace the entire starter if it is rather old. It may be more then the contacts as well. You could hook your meter up to the starter motor power strap and see how much voltage is there while turning the key over. 0 would indicate a failed solenoid contact disc, 12+ a failed starter motor.
