Default Push rod cover/ tappet cover help

Iv got a leaking tappet cover an don't know if I'm going to be able fix it with the pumP on the the block. Looks like a tight fit to me. Or would maybe pulling the head make it possible to do? Who's done it before? Thanks, Cameron

u either have to pull the head, or pull the pump. pulling the pump is alot easier and cheaper. the gasket is only like 15-20 bucks at cummins

Ya but then u have to retime it don't you? An pull off the front cover again may be just easier to wait till I do studs. Do I have to pull the head off for arp studs?

u do not have to pull the front cover off. it dont take but a few mintes to time a motor. imo, there is no need to pull a head to do the side cover gasket. u would be wasteing a perfectly good gasket. but thats just my opion. good luck with it though

If you go the pump route don't u have to pull of the front cover to undo the nut that runs the pumP? Ya I know setting it to stock is easy but I'm running 16* timing an if I had to do it again I'd bumP it up to 18 so I'd have to do the whole dv dial meter an loctite on the gear again. Wouldn't I? Is there enOugh room to pull out the cover with the pump an head on? Or does one or the other have to go?

Pull the oil filler off and the nuts right there.

There's enough room to pull the gear forward with the cover on.

You can time it with the cover on. Not hard at all.
