decking the block??

Question decking the block??

ok im in the process of building a motor for my 98 ram. its a daily driver which i plan on hitting lots of sled pulls this summer. im thinking of boring it .040 going with a big stick cam an lifters,191 delivery valves, already have bosche 370s and 4k kit an 60# valve springs,arp headstuds an a triple turbo on the way . my question is should i an if i do how much should i deck the the block??

are u gonna mill the head? if not then u can deck the block for better compression

I'm not sure of a good value for "performance" reasons, but if you have the block out and torn down, I would at least get it decked flat.

the head had like .010 taken off, i was thinking maybe .010 on the decking to make sure its flat. im gonna be runnin triple turbos i just dont want to high of a compression ratio. all the big pullers are runnin about 12.5:1 i want to stay close to stock.i decided to run a .020 marine piston for the bigger dish

Yeah, I would recommend just making sure it's flat. You can compensate for material removed with a thicker head gasket to a point.
