Leave it in. There is a bolt near it, grind down a body washer to a tear-drop shape and put in a slightly longer bolt. And Loctite. I can't remember the specs of it all but do a search in the 12v sections and you will find what you need.

Any idea what size bolt one would need to use when tabbing the KDP..? I'm trying to get my parts together to tab my 1995 3500. Losing a timing case to the KDP in my 1996 2500 last week has moved this project to the top of my list, swapping in a new timing case is next on the list..

Thanks for all the good write ups and info regarding the matter. I was a bit nervous about taking on the timing case project until I read up on it here.

just getting to know my way around the b motors, and had not heard of the KDP curse-so this was a very interesting read for me-and best of all something else i can do on my truck build while i wait for the snow to melt!

make the new [longer] bolt long enough to account for the thickness of the steel you use to make your dowel tab from.

ie-stock bolt length + thickness of dowell tab = overall new bolt length

Just use a thin tab and use the oem bolt with some red loctite (the loctite is very important here). All the other bolts that hold the timing case to the front of the engine (forget how many there are - maybe 10 or 11) also need the have red loctite on them. If one of them backs out its the same as losing the kdp.

If you do want a longer bolt the specs are M8 X 1.25 X 25mm

Instead of asking the same question over and over, why not search for the info? - its all here you just have to look for it.

In fact there is already a link to good info right in this thread. Youve got to read all the posts if you want info.
