47RE Trans /Converter Question
which is more prone to slippage under heavy torque? the converter locked up or the 3 gear/od clutch packs... my truck has mild mods but I noticed that on the freeway coming off of a 55 zone getting on it at 1400 rpm at 10PSI it will shoot up to 1800 rpm for about half a second... my first thought is the converter because this transmission dosent even have 10k on it yet and it was built right with the upgraded 3rd & 4th clutch packs with extra frictions & steels, but it has a stock converter, I think I am going to baby it til I can get a Goerend 3 disc converter, opinions?

didn't have the extra $2k plus it was just to get the truck back on the road until a fully built trans could be had, I figured it would have lasted a little bit longer but I suspect it has been slipping a little bit for a while, when the converter is unlocked and full throttle is given the truck moves out like it normally should and doesn't seem to slip, revs go to 2500 while the truck gains speed then when it goes to 2800 it shifts and starts it all over again

Alto Eagle red clutches throughout the unit with the extra plates and steels, redline bands, and a transgo VB recalibration & shift kit thing, the input and output shafts were cryogenically treated (pissed away $100 I was told) and a bunch of little stuff that added up to about $2900, at least the guy is offering my money back on the converter so thats $225, I just gotta baby this thing for about another month until I have the $800 for a 3 disc converter.
