well that dont look helthy at all how many miles was on this engine

that was my 4bt in my excavator had about 6000 hours on it (equal to 360-400k miles)

what kind of head gaskit do i need to go back with marine or stock cummins

stock cummins ... what set of twins are you running? stock headbolts? no o or fire ring? what was your drive pressure with the smaller housing?

im runing a 65/62/12 on the top ht3b 76/72/23 on the bottom i think thats right on the ht3b ill have to look i have no o-ring or fire rings i do have head studs and not sure on my drive pressure just got the turbo changed out and didnt rely get to drive it

no such thing as a marine head gasket, it is a 0.020 thcker gasket, there also is a 0.010 gasket.

never really understood the concept behind a thicker gasket on a 5.9l engine that is not decked, it is the same thing as putting in the thicker washer on the injector, you really dont gain anyhting but having more material to crush down, and have the injectors farther away from the bowl. the stock head gasket is pretty durable and with studs your standard gasket will hold up just as good.

I have built alot of 5.9l cummins motors (all models, from marine, to truck applications)
never used a oversized gasket unless we decked the head.

ok guys got my head gaskit put on still putting oil in the water with alot of blow by what else could it be

Are you sure you got all the oil out from the first time and its not leftover?
