lol oh im not going to be pushing 70lbs of boost by no means i'll have 50 at the most i don't have the money to spend on twins and a suncoast tranny and all that other fun stuff i'd need for that

In my honest opinion your pushing the limits with 50 with stock head bolts. But its only my .02 and it all depends on the truck, your driving style, and your luck

well i've been lucky so far with this truck (knock on wood) the only things that have ever messed up have been electric stuff

blazier18 12-05-2010 07:58 AM

heard that and i think u will be fine pushing 50 u can retorque your head bolts down. im not sure wat order u do it or wat torque u go to but im sure it would help for a while. im gonna wastgate my turbo at 35 psi and call it done.

Attachment 44180

Step1- all bolts to 66 ft.lbs.
Step2- all bolts to 89 ft.lbs.
Step3- rotate all bolts an additional 90degrees

thats how the stock bolts are torqued. most will take step 3 to 135 ft/lbs. If you are going to retorque your head bolts make sure there not stretched out first or they could break

Also when your done you have to reset your valve lash

im guessing a nice big torque wrench would work good for this? and how exactly do i get to this because i've never even though about messing with them until now?

BRE 12-05-2010 02:09 PM

Well your gonna have to pull all the valve covers first, and yes a big torque wrench is necessary because after 26 bolts it tends to get a little old!

on my 1st gen i have to undo the injector lines at the injectors and take out a couple of bolts that the injector line brackets are mounted with... then the injector lines will move out of your way. if you dont do that you cant get to a hand full of bolts. also youll need to undo one small hose (i believe for the heater core lines) to get to bolt number "26".

wat you mean rotate all the bolts? and sayin make sure there not stretched rite?
