It will take a hell of an expensive turbo, and a LOT of electronics to run it. The vnt on my Volkswagen is controlled by the ecu as well as by boost and vacuum. It's rather complicated, and since the 12v is 100% pure mechanical, I wouldn't hold my breath to it being a worthwhile swap.

somebody on compD has done it, running the VGT with a wastegate actuator. Working well for him I believe.

ya it works out real good on the 12valves, you have to use a wastegate actuator as state above to control the vains, and do some custom intercooler pumping and down pipe, i have also seen a guy running a 07 5.9 cr turbo with good luck on his 95

Yes the vnt mechanism is controlled by a wastegate actutator.. i'm not sure how the electronic portion is done though on a 12v? How would the ecu control everything if there isn't an ecu to begin with?

hense, "the waste gate accuator" there is no electrons, when the truck builds boost, the wastegate accuator opens the vanes to increase the exhaust housing size.

I figured you would be spouting off, jacka$$. Long time no speak.. you lose my number?

I'm no turbo expert, but at least on my volkswagen, the wg controlls when to begin opening to dump excess boost, and when to initiate the vnt (you can control the vnt opening points by toying with the ecu and the waste gate). So are you saying you can totally bypass the ecu and run it solely on boost/vacuum, in the case of a 12v truck?

it's not so much about psi, volume is what is important, but i'd say they'd push 40 psi depending on fueling, i've heard of guys hitting just a notch above 50psi on he351's so i'm assuming the he351vgt would be capable of the same thing
