Oh believe me a powerstroke keeps itself running. It doesn't need constant maintenance like cummins.

The only way a damn powerstroke keeps itself runnin is stock. and even that is sketchy on a 6.0. my 7.3 was always needing things fixed, and all I was runnin was a tune. |
check out youtube there's plenty on videos on trucks running vgts on 12 valves and vp trucks. I think Fleece performance makes a vgt controller box so you can mount vgt turbos on about any damn truck out there.

2008-2010 Ford Powerstroke 6.4 Turbochargers Turbo : eBay Motors (item 270646191201 end time Nov-06-10 17:53:50 PDT) $2,000 for a 6.4 vgt turbo ;) EDIT: And thats a reman apparently... not brand new. |

You can by a brand new Industrial Injection 6.4L twin setup for $2400 brand new and like $1800 for one from swamps. And you can buy a new reman 6.7L cummins vgt turbo for $950 and a stage 1 hyrbid vgt for $1400 that is a 64mm compressor wheel instead of like a 57 or a 60mm of the stock turbo. And the turbo from your volkwagen is expensive cuz its a volkswagen. I can get that turbo for 950.00
You can get a brand new vnt15 for 950$? |
i had a powerjoke only last 120k before 6 bad injectors, 5 bad cylinders, leaking oil like a mother, turbo impeler wasted and tranny on its way out. both my 12valve are more abused than that ford and have 260k and 155k on them with no motor problems
also i worked at a diesel shop and on many 7.3s and 6.0s so im no stranger to them, 6.0s have alot more problems that just egr and heads |
My PSD was a tank, wouldn't stop for anything. Never had ONE problem with it. My 12v had problem after problem with it. But both the 7.3 and the 12v truly are tanks. I love them both.

The price i quoted you was for a garret stock replacement from industrial injections

VGT is very doable. It just comes down to how you want to control the actuator, and there are several ways to go about that. You'll just have to balance cost and how much time you're willing to put in to make it work correctly.
