it could possibly be the trans temp sensor...if its messed up it wont let the convertor lock up

Same thing happened to me with my 95. I'm betting its your solenoid. I'm almost positive it is. but thats when i swapped my nv4500 in

im thinkin its the solenoid also because it doesnt even try to go into overdrive

Thats exactly what happened to my truck. i drove it two months before i could afford to fix it. but if your fluid is clean and its not slipping you can just replace that solenoid for pretty cheap.

i took the pan off theres quite a bit of little shavings and one good size chunk. i looked at the solenoid coils and it doesnt look like the wire is broken
