As far as I know the only difference is a slightly different pitch that allows it to pull more air.

I have a second gen fan blade if you need one, sounds like you're problem is you don't have room to shroud your fan

i sent you a pm!

and im starting to conclude the same thing. i might just have to do some more core support trimming in order to make the radiator fit a little bit better. while im at it should i upgrade to a 2nd gen dodge radiator? or will my 1st gen intercooled radiator do just fine with a newer mechanical fan and a good shroud?

hey tltruckparts, just thought id throw my two cents in, incase you havent fixed your issue as of yet, I read over on 4btswaps about a different fan for a cummins, i cant remember what i came off, for some reason im thinking they were discussing the bread vans that the 4bt's come out of, but i could definitely be wrong, i was told it was not as tall and mounted closer to the pulley, which might work for you, im actually going to be pming you shortly about your cummins swap, for my swap im trying to decide what route to take for my cooling fans.

anyways back to your topic, ive also heard of people using a 6.5 low mount I/C, or custom mounting their I/c lower, such as this swap 1993 Chevy 3500 Cummins Conversion - TheDieselPage.com Forums, ive also seen core support shaving to fit all three, but everything ive seen those guys used the 6.5 chevy radiators. Don't know if this helps, but there it is

while at SEMA 2010 they had turbo'd dodge challengers. they had the turbos tucked up in the rear with the intercooler piping ran clean back to the front of the car. from the people i had talked to they said it wasnt too bad. throttle response and boost was right there. how much of the fan is actually shrouded? i've noticed on my first gen than the fan sticks almost an inch out from the shroud. and within the shroud the fan tips arent shielded. for the highest efficiency of a fan the tips have to be shrouded to prevent the air from being "flung" from the tip creating turbulence. look at your typical electric fan, there is a ring that ties all of the fan blades together and then all you have to do is get the shroud to set flush with the backside of the fan. same thing can be achieved by setting the ,echanical fan in a "tunnel" say the fan blade is 2.5 inches deep. a 2 and a half inch wide ring slid around the fan and then tied into the shroud so you can utilize the entire surface area of the radiator is going to raise that fans efficiency. stock design is mediocre... the web site that you gave me for the poly urethane engine mounts you use does complete cummins swaps in basically anything you want. one of their swaps has a substantially smaller fan than stock but is properly shrouded and apparently there is no efficiency problems. as a last ditch effort you could try moving the condensors further away from the rest fo the coolers, letting air to flow in around it?

Problem is if you move the air to air ics they just don't get enough air and you will be piston melting bound on your eggs I pull a 18000 pound trailer weekly no probably in sunny northern California and the central valley not to mention my truck is a welding rig and weighs damn near 12000 so and I can't hardly get my truck to warm up. You'll be better off moving.g the radiator if you move anything a cummins runs cool to start with they're Berry efficient as far as. Cooling goes. So if it runs hot with those fans its likely you're getting exhaust gasses n the coolant Wich means 1 thing blown head gasket. But hey I'm just a welder what do I know about heat
