Default voltage regulator

is the voltage regulator in the alternator or in the computer?

Its in the PCM but you can wire in an external voltage regulator.

What kind of problems are you having?

the gen light is on when im idling it maxes out on the guage but when under a load it goes into the normal range and turns the gen light off im not sure whats going on

We need voltage numbers from the battery terminals.

okay i tested the alternator and its putting out 14.61 volts could bad batterys cause this condition?

okay so idle i am getting 14.1 volts and 2500rpm im getting 16.30 and bench tested alternator it is good on the tester

The alternator and voltage regulator should be good then.

Weird. Check all your body/frame grounds. Clean all the mounting points. I think there are 7 or 8.

okay ill look for one i might have broken one when replacing the drivers side fender

my pcm went out and i did the external voltage regulator, mine does the exact same thing.
