I just got a 2nd gen Cummins, what can i do to toy with it ?

It's stock and i want to make easy horsepower, i know the first thing to do is get a pyrometer and boost gauge

The exhaust has been made to flow good, no cats / soot traps... only one pretty open muffler so EGTs shouldn't be crazy...

What should i do to gain some power ?

P.S. Raced my dad's 6.5 Suburban and was veeeeeeeeeery disappointed of the lack of 2nd and 3rd acceleration... but as soon as it hit 4th it got going... just barely caught up with him... can anyone explain this to me ? is this normal for a 6BT with a HX35 and P7100 pump ?

grind it to one if these profiles


or just remove it

they are good for about 50-100hp if the trans will hold it

Here's a picture after the first "mod" wich was to remove those horrific Hella 3000's off the bumper, if i build a rail on the bed to mount them on they might get used again....
