Default AC/Vent Fan Doesn't Work

I have a 95 Ram and my AC/Vent fan stopped working. I went and bought a new fan figuring that would be it but it wasn't. Any ideas? I wouldn't think the fan switch is bad because when I turn it to the AC side it still kicks the AC compressor on.

Does it still work on high setting. A common problem is a coil under the dash that burns in half and the fan will only work on high setting.

If it's out completey use an ohm meter to see if your gettin juice to the fan. Just unplug the fan and test it at the plug there. If your not gettin anything there you just move back to the fuse panel and or the switch and test for power. This is assuming the fuse is still good itself.

By the way welcome to the site. Hope to see a lot of ya around gere.

Well I am getting no voltage at the fan connector. And with the fuse pulled I am getting 11.7 Vdc at the fuse panel. The fuse is still good. I guess I have a wire problem between then fan and the fuse panel. But I am not positive that I am checking the right fuse either. There is no fuse where it says there should be for the fan and you can't put one there. There is a 30 amp fuse where it says there is supposed to be nothing which is the one I checked. The other 30 amp fuse os for my windows.

You should be able to hot wire the fan to test it, just run a jumper wire to the fan from the fuse slot and another to anything on the truck to ground the fan plug. Never done this but in theory it should be a way to check the fan. If it works doing this then you know the problem is in between there. Wish I could give you an easier answer to this. 99% of the time it's the coil or the fan that are bad, other problems are rare with the fan.

Yeah it seems wierd that something other then the things you have mentioned would go wrong. But the guy that had this truck before me did some interesting things to the wiring system under the dash. He rigged up a security system starting thing. You have to turn on the criuse control then hit the ressume/accell button then turn the key. I think he may have screwed up some grounds and or hot wires in the process. It is a jungle of wires in there.

Pull the switch panel and check it out. Just changed one in a VW and a Cavalier for the same problem.
