i found out what the vacuum hose was for... the ac/deforst vent doors! just FYI if anyone else runs into that problem!

Was just about to post that. That line operates the hvac doors and cruise control. Mine is all messed up right now so I have heat coming out of all orifices (a bigger pain in the *** than it sounds; read: no defrost).
