Default Whats the name of that spring on the top left corner of the p-pump?

Its supposed to be replaced every so often? I had motoroilmcale help me do some work to my truck today and he said they are supposed to be replaced every so often, and he noted mine was stock with the stock black paint on it. He said if unreplaced they hurt fuel pressure, hence poor mileage and power. He said it's only a few buck thru Cummins for the new spring. Any additional info and help?
