I was told that over time the spring gets weak and stops doing its job as effectively. And with 256k on my factory ofv, I'd like to know more about it and possibly replace it.

if they only a couple bucks and you think its best to replace it, go ahead and replace it.
changing it now will probably cause less headaches down the road when it does go bad

Where could I find one? Just go thru my local cummins dealer? Because I couldn't find one on ebay

yea cummins dealer is your best bet, for somthing like that id make sure that it is cummins not some off brand

#1 - Cummins has them for sure but they wont be cheap like the ebay ones

#2 - probably all or most of our sponsors can get their hands on them

#3 - you cant find them on e-bay huh? Theres 3 right here on this page - cummins overflow valve, eBay Motors, Fuel Inject. Controls Parts. Great deals on eBay!

2. Which sponsor, in particular (hehe)
3. smarty pants, I searched and the only thing I pulled up were vp44 pieces
