TERRIBLE mileage on my 5spd cummins!! 11mpg city!

Ya some dude with either his daughter or younger looking wife was in the pass seat. Dont remember the model because he was only in front of my when I merged on the highway, and behind me the rest. It was tan or champagne colored and a 4 door. The vw guy was more pissed than anything though because he tried several times

[QUOTE=85_305;535258]Well I'm pissed. From NY to hagerdstown MD, 6 hours 1-way, I maintained a steady 68-71mph. Very easy on the throttle, only 3 peopel in the truck and 1k lbs of sand bags in the bed. Averaged like 16 measly mpg!! Wtf??? When my truck was stock, had a 3year old fuel filter and air filter all gunked up, stock exhaust and no plate i got 19.33mpg going 80-85 VERY consistantly. Now that I'm modded and in theory should be getting better mileage, I got TERRIBLE mileage. Perhaps I got really REALLY bad winter-blend fuel before going to MD? I dunno.
On the way back from MD, I was pissed and said f*ck it and ran like 80-85mph. I'm still on the same tank of fuel with a tick over quarter tank left, and I've ragged this tank a few times out of angst for pooey mileage. Whats happening? Is my afc tuned really bad or something? Would what be causing this poor mileage?

did you get rid of the cat? check your timing, the way that diesels are drivin really afects milage, racing cars and driving fast sucks fuel, also do you have 355 or 410, cause 410 gears eat fuel

Yep cat and muffler are gone. I suppose I could check the timing, but my buddy said that timing on these doesn't move hardly at all. He had a truck with 365k miles on it and the timing only shifted like .1 or something like that when he checked it at 365k miles.
As far as racing cars, that wasn't while I was cruising to MD tryign to get good mileage. When I was on the highway I was babying the the hell out of the truck. I have 355's
