I had a seal leak on the passenger side of the axle, I went to the local Auto Parts Supply Store and one of the guys there recommended adding some stuff called RESEAL. My axle started leaking after I had replaced the U-Joint on that side. I added the RESEAL to the differential and with in a short time the leak stopped. By the time I sold the truck I had driven it well over 25,000 miles after that and no leak. I wont say it will work in every case but it did mine and saved me from pulling the differential. Also the mechanic I usually have work on my stuff told me on the short shaft side he didnt need pulling the differential to replace seals. He claimed only on the long tube does it have to be pulled. I dont know myself since I never tore one apart yet, just repeating what he told me.

That sealer additive is made by ATP, Inc. Its called "AT-205 Re-Seal". On the bottle it showed a website addy....... www.atp-inc.com

Ya let me know how this turns out! Mine is leaking on the driver side and I figured I might as well do both sides. A guy that my grandpa knows said to put some petroleum jelly on the outside of the seal so it seats easier and less likely to get damaged when putting into place. Then the Petroleum jelly will dissolve and wont hurt anything after its all put together again. Just a tip. I have also read that silicone on the outside of the seals will help it seal better and won't hurt anything either. The mechanic and my grandpa who is a mechanic said that all-thread is the most valuable tool in this endeavor for the passenger side. I found this. Its hard to follow kinda but gives you an idea. It also shows the all-thread and he uses silicone. What do you guys think?
