Default Complete Rebuild

OK... my brother and a couple of us have been completely rebuilding his truck. He has a 95' ext cab..
We took it to a reg cab frame off a 97. Wiring harness off a 94 auto. And the cab is from a 96 as well. Engine is still from the 95 that it once was... making any sense yet?!
Well only things that really matters is we got it mostly back together but it wont turn over. Some clicking and buzzing but no go. Though when we put a wire jump in the front fuse box it begins to start.
So we guess its the wire harness....? this is a 5 speed trans truck and now we have this 94 auto harness in. What changes/fixes minus changing the harness back can we do to get it to fire up... We are very stuck on the wiring....

I am wondering if it has to do with the clutch switch...no wiring for it in the auto harness?

that would make sense. i had mine wired for an automatic originally and i hit kinda the same problem when i put the five speed in. i had to take the automatic's park neutral switch and re run the wires to the clutch switch, so when the clutch was in, it told the computer that the automatic was in either park or neutral allowing it to start.

i dont know if thats your problem or not but its a start

I would say if it was the clutch switch then it wouldnt turn over at all not even a click. I bet its low voltage somewhere or a bad ground, I just rebuilt my 95 and Im hitting the same problem even with a jump box hooked up to it, it only clicks. Im going to get a multimeter and go to town checking the whole starting system here pretty soon ill let ya know what I find we might be having the same problem

if its clicking like a dead battery type click id check 3 different places.

1) would be a bad engine ground
2) starter solenoid not engaging fully
3) bad starter relay

try jumping the solenoid with the power wire on the starter and see if it turns the starter over. if it cranks, you just got a wiring problem there. if it does the same thing, youll know the starter is bad

ok can you point me to where the parking/neutral wire is and where the clutch wire is so i can possibly just tap that and get it to turn over then. that would be so very appreciated. though first ill try to look thru this book here first and see if i cant find it that way as well... hopefully
