Default 1994 cummins tranny acting funny

ok i have 1994 dodge cummins with a auto tanny. acted fine when i first got it shifted and locked up fine. put a lock up switch on it and it acted fine for a a couple of days. then if i had the switch off the computer would not lock the converter up and niether if i would hit the switch. took the switch out and the thing started acting fine again until the other day i was driving down the road and the converter locked up then unlocked within seconds and would not lock up after the 1 time. turn the key off as the truck was rolling down the road and start it back up it did the same thing it would not stay locked up more then seconds. the next day it was fine and still is until this day.

\

could this be a wiring pormblem some where the wired was fine for the lock up switch .????//

i had a similar problem with my 96 auto. it had the torqloc switchin it. i never found out what was wrong with it but it would shift just fine with the torqloc on but when it was off it would not know where it wanted to be. it would shift in and out of OD like crazy just driving down the road. the guy i bought it from had the tranny flushed and the valve body cleaned out and he said it worked like new for a while.

Well mine was doing that but my tranny guy said to clean all your battery cables and check the senser that is in the line that goes to the cooler in the front of the truck mine will still start to screw up and i will wiggle the conection to the senser and it will start to work.

Clean the battery terminals and check all your grounds. If you have a bad ground it will cause problems with the lockup. I had this same issue just last week.

I had one loose battery terminal and they were both pretty dirty. Just check all your grounds. Also clean the plug for the tranny temp sensor. A bad connection there can also cause you to loose overdrive.
