im tryin to pull my tranny in my 97 5speed, and i cant figure out how to get the shifter handle off the tranny so i can slide it back off off the truck? any one know? it just looks like it goes in the top and there is a rubber seal around it?

 

im not sure on the nv4500's. but i know on the getrag 5 speed you have to take off the rubbet boot, untighten two screws on the side of the top cover, and then take out the snap ring under the rubber boot and it just comes right out. i dont know if there the same or not but hopehully this will help get you started

 

Slid the rubber boot all the way up with out ripping it, then you will need some screwdrivers. you have to push the lock down and twist ... it will pop right off.
