I am looking for a floor jack handle
I have an older floor jack that is missing the handle. I could make a handle out of some 1 1/4" O.D. tubing but I need the piece with square hole to slide over the part that tightens and releases the jack.
The square stub measures about 7/16. A 3/8 square socket will not slide over it. A 10 mm square plug socket fit very tight. a 12 mm 12 point socket works.
I need something with a longer travel than a socket, if I can not find a handle that will work or that I can modify.
A handle with the correct sized square hole could be turned down if the outside diameter was to big. Or if the outside diameter of the handle was to small - it could be welded and turned or a bushing slid over.
And ideas on something to use to adjust the jack? A place to find a jack handle?
I'm sure a lot of jack handles have gone to the scrap yards as jacks went bad.
The outside diameter of the handle is about 1 1/4" - I'm sure it's really a metric measurement - the jack was made in Sweden. Probably 32 mm. it measured somewhere between 1.269 and 1.272 inches O.D.
A piece of 1 1/4" shaft will fit. A piece of 1" pipe will not. If I had something that would work to slide over the control stub - I could turn down a 1" pipe or find a piece of tubing that would work.
Any help would be appreciated.
I could not get any info from the manufacturer.
