Default Axle

Has anyone had to replace the intermediate shaft on there front axle, it seems that my CAD system was failing and it chewed the splines up on the shaft leaving me with no 4-wheel drive, where is the best place to find a replacement shaft and collar?? No fun trying to plow snow in 2-wheel drive thanks

It looks like you have installed an EMS lockout conversion, did you do it yourself, how hard was it, would you do it again? And I am not sure if a 97 axle will fit a 94??? Thanks

I installed the kit myself. It was really easy, everything went as planned. I would absolutely do it again. With the hub kit, CAD delete and u-joints it totaled 1300 out the door. I didn't have to pay shipping because I go to school right up the road from their shop.

By far this is my favorite mod. The only thing is I had an axle spreader, I would highly recommend finding one from somewhere if you want to do this.

How far does the lock out hubs with the EMS Free Spin Kit stick out beyond the truck?.

I have seen the Dyna-Trac kit and I did not like how far theirs stuck out beyond the drivleine. Thus I never would consider this kit at all.I am now on the verge of rebuilding the front end as with 220k on my truck its starting to show it wear and age.The cost alone for the Timken hubs is over half of what the EMS kit is total, plus I would gain the ability to have the free spin hibs.

If you have a couple of pics of your truck showing down the side so we can see how far the EMS deal sticks out it would be greatly helpful.......Andy

I don't have any pictures of my truck at all yet, but I will try to get some soon.

The outer most part of the hub sticks about 2 inches past the rim with stock wheels.

94-99 SRW Dodge Hub Conversion [HC-94D-30] - $995.00 : EMS Offroad, Custom 4x4 Fabrications

That should take you right to the hub conversion kit. This is the kit that I got is standard duty, they make an extreme duty setup with full turn lockouts and 35 spline shafts. To make this kit work the way it's intended you should get the CAD delete kit. This is the long side axle shaft that gets rid of the 2 piece setup you have now.
