i got problems
around december/january i installed governor washers to get some more revs outta this thing. with my homemade plate and these washers (which i triple checked all my measurements before installation) i could easily peg my egt gauge on even flat surfaces under WOT. around the first of june i removed the washers in an effort to conserve fuel and cool things down. the egt's got a little better but i could still get over 1300 on a hard WOT run. cruising to and from work i'd see 600*-900* at 65 mph depending on wind/hills. FYI at 65mph my truck is right around 2100-2300 rpms. so the entire reason that i switched plates saturday was to put the milder banks plate in for better fuel economy and lower my egt's. my homeground plate was like a 10 but the "hook" at the top wasn't as big. this banks plate is alot milder. it's beefy in the mid throttle ranges but flatter at the beginning and end of the throttle cycle.
so now today, with this milder banks plate and no shims in the governor i can still get over 1300*. going downhill on an entrance ramp at mid throttle i can easily get to around 900* and this is the fattest part of the plate. i don't remember this plate ever running this hot and i don't feel that it should either. i think with an empty truck running downhill it shouldn't even see 900* even under WOT. also, i didn't really notice substantial decrease in power.
i get 30 psi under WOT so i don't think i have a boost leak anywhere. but i have checked the boots. i have no starting issues and the truck free revs ok so i'm assuming pump timing is still ok. engine temp never goes above the halfway point.
i think this is something stemming from when i put the washers in the governor. is there something that could have stuck?? i know the spring kits aren't supposed to add fuel but these washers clearly did and removing them didn't make it a ton better as i said other then my EGT's don't go over 1400*. i don't want to pull anything with this because i got a feeling i'd never keep it cool.
my truck is a 1996 4x4, AT, 4.10's, 285/75 tires, banks bighead wastegate, banks twin ram, 5" exhaust, k&n intake system, AFC is fully forward and starwheel is at about the halfway mark. (which i still get a pretty decent size black cloud of fuel when leaving from a stop at more than 1/2 throttle)
what did i up guys??? :pc:

back up more on the starwheel? really? i think it's right about back to wher eit was when stock IIRC. not doubting. just confirming. i thought about AFC. that'll have that drastic of an effect on EGT? i'm really gonna be pissed at myself if it's that easy.
