did my kdp and bumped timing to 15.5, love the response and lower egt's in town. however going over mountain passes with no load on i see 850 on the steep hills with o/d off going about 55 or 60. if i run in o/d going 60 to 70 it will be around 950 to 1100. that's not even mashing it!!! seems a little hot to me. running on the flats at 65 or 70 seems to be around 700 to 800. would hate to see the temps pulling a load over the pass. all chime in what temp you all are running. i guess it is time for 4" exhaust instead of the 3" with the areo turbine on it. i was told that it works almost like 4" because of the vacum it creates unless your pulling really heavy loads. hate to spend the 500 bucks on exhaust as i love the sound as it is now. but i'd rather spend the money on that than melted pistons.

I wonder if the altitude has anything to do with it... the air is less dense so its not getting as much

well it is around 3500 to 4500 pass level. that is a good thought!!!! i go over it all the time so with these new mods and the mods to come i wonder if a intake elbow with the water port in that back is a good route to go?

it is pre turbo and how much lower will the 4" bring the temps down? i should run some steep grades around town (500 ft level) and see if they are alot lower.

you can make an exhaust for muh less than 300 bucks i have done it plpenty of times but with stock fuel youll have a little more back pressure as there is not quite enough to fill a larger exhaust
