my plug is on the passeger side by the headlight good luck and stay warm

A friend of mine ran a wrecker service for a while and bought a plug in electric timer that he plugged into wall socket / then his extension cord to his truck. Set timer to come on at 2 AM and go off at 5 AM not so much for starting but for faster defrost heat. Just an idea.

 

yea mine is by the head light. i jus leave mine in all night

 

can i leave it pulged in all the time? Will it hurt anything? I dont drive mine every day mabey once or twice a week, or when it snows in the winter.

 

i wouldn't think that it would hurt anything except your electric bill. if you only drive it every couple days, just plug it in the night before. or just start it up and let it warm up before you go anywhere and don't worry about plugging it in.

 

When the temps drop below 32 here and I am at home,the truck gets plugged in and stays plugged in.I have not noticed a major difference in the electric bill as some state they have.The only place my trucks sits in temps below 32 unplugged is at work where we can not plug it in.There I just cycle the grids and twist it off and allow it a chance to warm up some before I move it.

 

my landlord got us a timer becuase last year there was three kids with diesels living there and the electric bill went through the roof espically since the one boy had a 7.3 and it wouldnt start below 40*

 

mine gets plugged in under 32, but might have to around 40 now since the grid is deleted.

 

is the covers that go over the grill for the winter are they a must? Should i invest in something?
