Block Heater

so i'm moving up north.... from Texas :U: to Illinois :humm:. My wifes granparents aren't doing to well, so we will be living with them for a little bit to help out. I'm kinda worried bout my truck and the cold starts up there. it's never had to deal with that in texas :rocking:... i looked and didn't see a plug for the heater. did they come stock on these trucks, or was it something optional? also, if it doesn't have one, could one be installed and about how hard would the installation be? thanks guys

last yr my truck sat out for 10hrs when it was -40* with a north wind blowing straight into the radiator. cycled the glow plugs twice and she fired right up

You don't have to plug it in, but it's so much easier on the engine if you do, plus you don't have to wait as long for it to warm up.

If you look close on the passenger side just behind the oil filter - I bet the cord is hanging there someplace.

thanks guys for all the replies. and thats exactly what i plan on doing, is trying to make it easier on the motor. if i forget to plug her in, i'll just wait for it to wram up. but it would be nice to remember and just jump in her and go :U:

-40!!! it thats friggin' cold up there?!!! i'm not gonna like that....
