ok, the afc is very simple to work on. where the boost line comes in on the back of the afc there are 3 bolts and 1 break away bolt. take them off and the back cover should come off, under the cover is the diaphram. on the other side of the afc there is a either a 10mm or 8mm bolt that holds the rod connecting the afc arm to the diaphram. take that bolt out and pull the rod out and the afc will come appart.

it's really simple if you stay simple. i'd say just move your plate full forward, and then just back a little so you can get the top of the afc back on, then make sure that the arm isn't hitting below the plate. if it is, then adjust it by taking off the cap on the back of the afc and adjusting the lower screw, i'll give you pictures if you need them. if it's all good with the plate forward and the arm hitting right.... close her back up. now on the back of the afc top, there will be a cap held on by two screws... take off the cap and losen the screw under there. then tighten it back up until you just feel it hit something, and then lock it back by tightening the nut. then put the cap back on it. now move to the star wheel which is located under the cap on the very top of the afc... adjust this to how you want it. just click the rind under the cap forward until you like how the truck runs. i think thats the simple version and should get it running pretty good. hope it helps, and i'm sure someone might go into more detail after this post. also, probable the easiest way to find out is just search this forum for further info for like turning up pump...
