Just killed the KDP - Problem with speed sensor
Hello all - I just bought my first diesel and really like it - Its A 96 CUMMINS 2500 - I hasve no previous wrenching experience and decided I could handle the KDP fix - When putting everything back together I broke the speed sensor (directly over the damper) - I bought a new one and put it in - The tach was reading but it would not shift into 4th gear - Well I messed with the gap and got it to work but I'm not sure its in the right spot
Specs say .049 to .051 - The feeler gauge i have starts with the thinnest saying .002 and .051 but this is very very thin -The thickest gauge says .032 and .813 using that one the tach won't even read - The very thin gauge that reads 0.002 and .051 just seem so thin - I guess I'm just tryin to figure out which mesurement on the gauge is the right one
Sorry for the long winded silly question and thanks for any help
Matt

I would doubt it's the super thin one. Normally on feeler gauges, there is a standard measurement and a metric measurement. .002 inches is .051 mm.

If you don't have a gauge big enough to read .051 inches, you have to use 2 and add them together. Such as a .031 and a .020.
