Default Heater grid issues?

Since it's been getting colder around here.. I notice the first time I start the truck every day, the idle sits low - 400 - 500 RPM, and it sounds terrible. I got to looking under the hood around the heater grid over the intake.. the two wires that are held on my nuts to the front of the header grid are fine - but I noticed coming off of the back of the grid is another wire - it looks like it could be some sort of ground that isn't connected - I haven't had to start the truck in cold weather since I've owned it, so I'm not even sure if the heater grid is working.. Could this be a ground for the heater grid? If so, where does it bolt to? Also, I have a mechanical fuel shutoff... so the solenoid has been removed, it _may_ have something to do with the solenoid, it's near the same area. Any help appreciated!
