I urge everyone to go to dieselnet.com and search for the regulations. They aren't hearsay or rumour they are real.

Tier 3 is just new stuff and comes into full effect Jan 01, 2010. Tier 4 on the other hand is every offroad or marine application regardless of location. Tier 5 is the retrofit one which will effect everything and takes effect in 2015 if I'm not mistaken. The word is that retrofit costs for OTR are around $9500 per unit.

Why is it that when I search for tier 4 anywhere, it just comes up with non road diesels? Am I missing something?

that's because that is what it is. Tier 5 is the scary one.

Ok. Read somewhere bout tier 4 and old trucks, thanks for clearing that up. Fa-king EPA. How can they make their rules go backward??? Thats like saying it was illegal to hang a black person 100 years ago and NOW, 2009, we will hang you for somthing you did 100 years ago. WTF?

Our Government is out of control, The Greeners are destroying our country, as japan and china are making bank selling shitty plastic bull ****, they polute more than americans ever have, and our government just walks over us. since when did we work for our government, id like to put mr gore and nacy paloskie, Obama, all these dick bags in a tree, and beat them in the nuts with a batt, hook there mouths to my cummins exhaust and fill them up with soot. I hope they don't do this

haahaa ... i like the illistration ... haha ... sad but true this will be hapening .... and the calif epa is posably even going to start putting things in motion to push the smog back to 65 instead of 75 ... from what i have heard from instructors and friends and the BAR ... but i dont see how that will happen ... but then again you never know with cali ... but again thats just what i have heard

You need to understand this: the CARB will no longer have any individual control once tier 3 comes into effect. so that is both good and bad. good because everything will be the same but bad because of the same reason.
