hate automatic
i don't really care if its the best auto in the world. i dont race the truck, i drive it and beat the ***** off it. To me I just enjoy driving standards, i am aware of good autos seen in drag raceing and what not, i have driven some fast muscle cars with autos, they hammer too, but i still like a standard on the street. This trucks going to be driven daily, and i like the idea of just selling the truck and buying a 5speed. Its not going to have oover 400hp, and i wont drive like a jerk, so i don't feel the need for a billet transmission, just a good clutch.
im right there with ya 392hemix, my goals were the same for my truck. but i ended up just buyin a 5 speed. I dont know yet if im gonna buy the upgraded input or not yet i havent seen when you realy should start thinkin about a 1 3/8" input at what hp level or level of torque or abuse. Im thinkin just under 400rwhp is where i want to end up so i just dont think i want to go the big input route just yet. also i dont do tractor pulls or drag race other than playin around on the street a little. Once my stock clutch starts slippin ill get me a good clutch to handle it.
But i would deffinatly find a 5 speed truck and sell yours instead of swap theres a lot of work involved and costs that will add up specially since you can sell yours and then just look for another till you find one for cheaper or same price then you wont be out any money at all and still get your 5 speed. BTW 5 speeds do get better mpg if you know how to drive them for it. Same truck as mine i drove for 2 years with an auto got 17mpg average, my 5 speed same set up size and all gets 20 avr. so theres one plus right there.
