manually shift it to find out what gear it is in. turn the OD switch off, it is up to the left of the crappy cup holders, then it should shift from 1-2 then from 2-D, you might feel the converter lock after the initial shift and if so the rpm should go down a little bit, then when you turn the OD button on and the converter should unlock and then it will shift into OD and then the converter will lock.

hope this helps

you asked how the tps would affect it... the tps controls TC lock-up; atleast on the 47re
if the signal voltage is erratic, low, or high it may not go into lock-up. as others have said get up to speed and tap the brake pedal. The brake switch on command to the pcm will kick it out of lock up that is if it is actually going into lock up. i'll did around for my thread wher ei was asking about the transmission hunting probplem. it isnt too old and shouldn't be hard to find.

found it; https://www.dieselbombers.com/12-val...eshooting.html

just read thru it somewhere in there a member linked the potentiometer install. when i ordered everything it came to like 14 bucks plus S&H so it was more like 20. but that included a 6' long piece of shielded 3 strand wire, the *****, potentiometer, and the D-sub connector that included the pins that'd match the TPS plug.

your truck isn't shifting into OD then..... i'd let a transmission guy look into it. could be an internal problem as the electrical sounds like it is working.
