ahhh i see i get it now its all clicking, doesnt seem that hard any more. Btw, what makes it easier doing it with the gear cover off the front? dont see any difference other than you can get the gear puller on easier. BTW anyone know of a good place to get the right dial indicator for this timing stuff?

I've never done it and the site I pulled the instructions off of listed it at 3.1 hours so that's where I got the time.

yup 260 bucks for the full kit, and if your any bit mechanically inclined its a snap, word of advice though, i found that when i set my timing i did it w/ the engine cold and have had no problems w/ slippage, also when you clean the shaft and gear with cleaner use a very lite spray due to there is a small lip troufgh behind the gear that tends to hold oil and if you spray too hard you could get some oil splash back on the shaft and cause gear slippage later, good luck if ya was closer i can do it got all the tools

well its just sitting here, the kdp is tabbed, i did that a bout a week or so ago, i still have the front cover off the thing though cause i had someone coming over to set the timing but that didnt work out cause he didnt have the right gauge set his was for a catipillar and didnt have a way to screw into the injection pump. i will keep the cover off till i get the timing done i have another truck so its no big deal to let this one set for know. thanks
