What kind of mods are you looking for? Propane?CNG?Bio-diesel? There are many ways to improve MPG or cost per MPG. Running Bio will only take a small part of HP away, and depending on what percentage you run you may not see a loss at all. Bio-diesel can be made and bought for cheap and ultimately lowering your cost per MPG as opposed to just raising your MPG.

Propane and CNG will both increase MPG and power but some kits can be pricey plus the availability of CNG in your area may be very low. Plus the fact you must refill the tanks when they empty.

So, I guess the question is, How much are you willing to spend to try and save? There is a line where putting money into a kit/system outways the savings that the kit/system is "supposed" to bring. If it was me, I would be looking at what I can do/look for on my truck that will make it run more efficiently, IE. making sure brakes aren't rubbing, tires properly inflated, filters are all clean, lubricants all good etc. etc..

In my opinion for something like this, one must do his own research in the direction he wants and come to a conclusion for himself. There are many different routes that people take and it may or may not work for you. Hope you got through that one ok haha
