EGR??

Default EGR??

what is the EGR?? a guy i know was trying to explain it to me but he wasnt completely sure either. is there modifications i can do to it??

Exhaust gas recirculation. Since yours is a Cali truck it should have it. Its a hose that comes off of the exhaust manifold and connects back into the air intake. The system takes little amounts of exhaust gases and sends it back in the intake to be reburned. IE: producing cleaner exhast emissions. But since your truck is modded now, you can get a block off kit for it since its not needed.

Best way to do it is get a old 12v 49 states manifold or and aftermarket one. Then you either fab up you own block off plate for the air horn, or upgrade to a after market one as well. Then just disconnect and block off the vacuum lines. Some haven't had the check light come on some have, so he's a diagram for a fooler if it does.

Hey i was trying to check out the diagram for if you throw a code. I cant seem to find a pic or file on your post. currently wanting to do an egr delete on a 51 chevy dropped onto a 1998 dodge chassis with a 12v cummins in it.what will this effect with blocking off the vaccume lines. Obviously i dont wanna damage anything. This is the first cummins ive worked on so id like to gain some knowledge first. ANY info is greatly appreciated... [/QUOTE]

The EGR valve on a 12v Cummins engine is typically located on the front of the intake manifold, near the front of the engine. It's connected to the EGR cooler>> and is often near the height of the turbo
