Replacing the seal between the vacuum and steering pump
my truck is leakin oil at the connection of the vacuum pump and the steering pump(box whatever) right under the injection pump. from what ive heard its a common leak point on the 12V, just wondering if anyone has had to replace it? if so any tips etc. i found a nice kit online at fixinrams.com just lookin for some feed back.
If you get the Fixinrams kit, it's great. Comes complete with all the seals including extras in case you jack one up, all the special tools needed to make this easier and best of all a step by step video on rebuilding the pump. No reason to go through all the work of pulling and not spending the extra few minutes to rebuild it while it's out.
I didn't use fixitrams kit. I went to Cummins Southern Plains in Tulsa and picked a repair kit. It was a pretty easy fix. I believe fixitrams will be the way I will go next time for the special tools and the extra seals.

Its gonna be fun with the underside covered in oil!
Just some good words about the fixinrams stuff again. I tried and tested his after the sale service also. I did this fix on a Sunday and ran into a snag late in the afternoon. I called the phone number he gives ya and I'll be damned if he didn't answer the phone right off the bat and spend all the time I needed walkin me through the issues. Can't get much better service then that and that alone was worth the money.

Where I work we have a power wash bay for washing the all the company vehicles. I washed the engine bay, more around the power steering vac pump area. This helped alot with the oil issue.
