first off who ever suggested the trac bar for this particular issue is way wrong.

he said when he turns the wheel that the shaft moves but the pitman doesnt. so how would the trac bar fix that?

its your steering box. Dont waste time and money get a PSC steering box. worth the money.

after the box is replaced and you feel you still have some steering issues here are my recomendations for the best steering set up

PSC steering box, 1 ton chevy tie rod set up (by shakerbuilt or you can make it yourself), borgenson steering shaft or flaming river steering shaft. then a DT profab trac bar.

these are not necessary but are beefy long lasting parts. they all dont have to be added at once to fix your steering.

but your immediate problem is the box

I Ment that that will contribute to the problem, and can be dangerous. it is one of the more expensive items that most likely needs replacing. i also told him to replace the box and other parts as needed.....i don't think i was way wrong by telling hime to get a trac bar. I can almost guarantee that he will want one after the new box. and a box brace as well.

if he gets a OSC box then he wont need the brace.
If his trac bar is fine then he wont need or want one.

box braces are band aids for poor steering systems. It should be a very last resort.

my best explanation of a use for a brace is, to prevent premature failure of the stock boxes.

chances are his trac bar isnt up to snuff but when replying to a thread we should try to keep the replies to get to the root problem and to the lowest cost possible. Most steering problems can be fixed with 1 or two parts. I am not a big fan of the shotgun approach.

thanks, like i said.
i ordered the new tie rod end at the pitman arm so that will help a tad.
my problem is when i turn the wheel the pitman arm doesnt start moving untill i turn about 2 inches.
so its the box or where the steering shaft bolts into the box.

if your steering shaft turns with the steering wheel and the pitman doesnt then the whole box is shot.

I just found out that PSC doesnt make boxes for 2nd or 3rd gen trucks anymore so they are out.

I will find a company that make a solid box. stay tuned.

Who sells the osc box? I am going to invest in one soon, my box has seen better days, and have tried gettting oem new boxes for my older dodges and have not been happy with them, and borgansan boxes are supper expensive

PSC doesnt make a box for 94 and up dodges anymore. So no one sells them.

AGR used to make a better than stock box but I dont know if they are still manufacturing them.
Redhead is another good company
