Transfer case question
I just bought the truck today, basically all i can think happend was the front u joint broke and the drive shaft hit the ground and just grenaded the case as it needs a front u joint and t case. When i went to go look at it there were pieces missing of the t case and the guy didn't know much about it or how it got broke. The actual owner was out of town.If any one knows of dhd t case let me know please and thank you for your time.
They're real tough to find... The DLD won't fit because its a 23 spline input, instead of 29, which is what you need. Best bet is to call a bunch of junk yards. You could upgrade to a 271 if you plan on building the truck.
yep it had me flusterd as well, all i had to do was swap out input shafts and hubs and everythig worked the same but was bigger, i have a may of 94 cummins with the nv4500 tranny dana 80 rear and it came factory with teh 241dld so i swapped it for the dhd version
I'm currently rebuilding my 241dhd. Might take me a while to get it done though. Maybe a week or two. If you need it sooner oh well. Finding a transfer case for mine was a PITA so I upgraded to a 271. It is an option for you as well. It doesn't take a whole lot of modifications for it to fit.
Slight clearanceing on the frame rail and body(possibly) as well as (maybe) shortening of a driveshaft. Shift linkage might neeed to be changed(haven't got that far on my swap yet) and the 4wd switch needs to be swapped from the old one to the new one. And you'll need the 271s Output yoke as well as it has a bigger output shaft.(another thing I'm stuck on)
I've got some pics in my album of it installed in my truck. However mine is an ECLB and a 6-speed so It will look a little different than on your truck.

.
You really musta blown it apart. If it has a PTO cover its the DHD, if it doesn't, its a DLD... FYI I've never seen a DLD in a 5-Spd truck.
